The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Logistics Systems (CCALS) held its first logistics innovation workshop on Intermodal Mobility of Goods & Services in Richmond on April 30, 2019. A broad cross section of attendees included representatives from the public and private sectors as well as university researchers from VCU, UVA, VSU and Longwood. The event was sponsored by the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Logistics Systems (CCALS), the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Williams Mullen Law Firm.
The workshop was designed to explore how logistics can spur innovation, and serve as a key driver of economic development in Virginia. TED-style panel sessions provided attendees an opportunity to interact with university teams doing problem solving research, with additional time scheduled for comment and collaboration.
“This was a great followup to the Virginia Logistics Summit we held last fall,” said Mark Manasco, CCALS President and Executive Director. “With this workshop we are collaborating on a new level.”
Future workshops will include topics such as:
- Healthcare Materiel & Services
- Commonwealth & Defense Industry Coordination
- Energy Mobility & Sustainability
