An impressive team of interns has started work on the Port of Virginia’s new cybersecurity lab. Dr. Sachin Shetty, professor and Executive Director of the Center for Secure and Intelligent Critical Systems at Old Dominion University (ODU), is working with students from ODU, Longwood, and Virginia State University (VSU) at the new center at the Port of Virginia. All of the participants are CCALS members, and the collaboration is just the sort of project that CCALS works to support.

Shetty leads the ODU team, along with faculty from Longwood University, VSU, the University of Virginia and Virginia International Terminals, LLC, in teaching novice cybersecurity students of cyber risks and technology needed to develop an operational cybersecurity monitoring center. The project was funded by the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative and executed by the team of faculty and students from ODU, UVA, Longwood and VSU. (Read the ODU article here for more information.)

The interns include:

  • Timothy Holcey – Longwood University
  • Elaina Clifford – Longwood University
  • Armel Houndoh – Longwood University
  • Mikala Simons – Old Dominion University
  • AJ Simon – Virginia State University
